The goal behind the BSC Data Vault service is to
provide all clients with a back-up protection plan in the event of
hardware failure or natural disaster.
Lessons from the past have shown that having to rely on someone to do the back-ups
can result in an inconsistent back-up schedule. That problem is solved with
scheduled back-ups that run at a given time and date. The other major
problem is people back-up their data and store it on the same location
as the computer. This does not give you disaster recovery only
hardware/software recovery options. BCS Data Vault is an off site
storage location for your data back-ups. So now your data is stored in
a different geographical location, in the event of a fire or a flood your
data can be returned to you intact for instant restoration.
To back up your data we use some of the following standards:
• FTP Data transfer – Ensure’s your data arrives in the BCS Data Vault complete with little over head
• 256 AES Encryption
- This is some of the best encryption you can get. To date it would
take the best super computers over 25 years to gain access with using a
strong password solution
• Private Server Space
- Each user is given their own spot on the server, only BCS Server
admin’s and the client can see the contents of this space. On top of
the encryption used to protect your data this make’s it that no one but
the client and our own admin’s can tell you even have data in the Vault.
Enhancements underway:
• SSL FTP sessions
- Taking it one step further than the rest. This makes it, that while
your data is on it’s way to the BCS Data Vault that the encrypted
packets can’t be sniffed
• Encrypted Server Storage
- More and more security for your data. This will make it
impossible for anyone but the intended client to access their BCS Data
Vault
• Compressed Server Storage ( implemented)
More bang for your buck a Winnipeger’s dream. As your data transfers into the BCS Data Vault, it is compressed one last time. This means you can get more back-ups using less space.
